Cave, 2011

Inspired by a month long stay in Cappadocia, Turkey, Cave uses all local materials to draw on the history and images of the region. Installed in an abandoned space in the town of Ibrahimpasa, a traditional rural town, the main influences for this project were the surreal landscape of the area, a rare and unique figure on the wall of the Hallacdere hospital/ monastery in the nearby town of Ortahisar and the strong belief in shamanism of the local residents. Playing with the space between the real and unreal, this project mixes together the human body in a wide-range of manifestations and realities.
